Wet, delicate (yet persevering) Spring. Rejoice! The magnolia is beginning to blossom! Oh, Spring. I think it's my favorite of the season for flowers because of its flowering branches alone. And also because it's such a relief. I'm done with the cold. I want to wear white linen and bask in golden hour light. I want to see my shadow again. I want to be outside barefoot. This summer baby, born in tropical paradise is ready for warmth. And with it, its lushness.
Even the thought of the explosions of blooms coming might make my heart just explode. Last night I went on a walk with a friend around her block. We stopped to ooo and ahhh at the different things blooming. One of my favorite pastimes is going on walks. We would go on them as a family after dinner growing up. My mom would call it our daily exercise. And soon, they'll be that much better as the waves of the warmer seasons and its bounty come through.
I snipped a couple branches of magnolia and threw them into a Beanpole Pottery vase of mine (I still have a few in the shop!) with leftovers from a recent shoot. I think magnolia may be my favorite flower. It was really the first one I fell in love with when I first started diving into floral design. But my favorites always rotate and change; I easily fall in love. Well, only when it comes to flowers.
